New Program At Leading Beaver Creek Resort, 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill, Offers Opportunity For Natural Cork Recycling

Vail, Colo. (PRWEB) July 29, 2010

Greg Monjure, restaurant manager at 8100 Mountainside Bar & Grill, located at Park Hyatt Beaver Creek resort, is proud to announce a new program that will allow guests and locals to drop off their natural corks at the restaurant for recycling. Cork, a naturally self-sustaining product, often ends up in landfills as there aren?t many locations that offer resources for recycling.

The Vail resort has partnered with Cuvaison Estate Wines, a Napa-based winery, in their cork recycling efforts. Cuvaison kicked off their recycling program, ?Put a Cork In It? last year at Food & Wine Classic in Aspen and collected more than 5,000 corks. As part of this partnership 8100 is pouring Cuvaison Chardonnay by the glass throughout the cork recycling program.

?Because it?s a fairly new movement, we haven?t seen cork recycling in a lot of restaurants,? says Monjure. ?We?re a natural fit to contribute to the cork recycling movement. We have sustainable wines, and organic wines, but we want to be more proactive with our wine product and find new ways to continue our environmentally friendly efforts.?

8100 invites guests and locals to bring natural corks to the restaurant for recycling. As an incentive, they are extending an offer of $ 1 off in the dining room for each natural cork brought in, for up to 25 corks per table, translating into a possible $ 25 discount in the restaurant.

Corks will be shipped to Yemm & Hart, a recycling company that converts and repurposes cork into self-sustaining products such as flooring tile, building insulation, shoe soles, fishing rod handles, bulletin boards and soil conditioners.

?We?re proud to lead the charge in the Vail Valley for cork recycling,? adds Monjure. ?It?s just another way to express our commitment to sustainability in all aspects of 8100 and Park Hyatt Beaver Creek as a whole.?
